How to tell my 3 yrs old not to run on the street?
My 3 yrs old is out of control. She ran on the street today. I screamed at her. I don’t want to spank her but I think I should. Any advice how to handle this?
It’s too late to spank her now, but I probably would have gave mine a swat as soon as it happened. Btw, all the non spankers are going to tell you that “never spank your child…ect…it’s abuse… clearly there is a difference between being beaten and a spank. Not everyone see’s eye to eye…esp on this subject. ANYWAYS- That is a serious danger to her life and she’s lucky she didn’t get run over. You need to explain to her what could have happened to her. She is old enough to understand. If she is going to continue to run into the street and not listen, then I suggest take away privileges, use time out, make her hold your hand, or use a harness until she get’s the idea that it isn’t ok. MANY people will tell you this “cruel” and not to treat your kid like an animal. Really, it’s not going to be around her neck “like an animal”. And think about it… what is more important? Your child’s safety, or other people’s opinions? Do what you know is right and what will work with your child. Just giving you my piece of advice.
